Lara Dâmaso (Biel/Bienne, 1996) is a Swiss-Portuguese artist and performer living in Zurich. Lara's central medium is the body. The artist explores the expressive, therapeutic and political potential of the voice. More than an instrument of enunciation of the intellect, its actuation is intimately linked to that of the body; it establishes a vibratory bond that is more a matter of sensitive experience than of reason. In doing so, the artist circumvents the power structures embedded in the disciplined use of the voice. His work exists in the form of live performances, videos, or audio works. Recent exhibitions include Echoes (solo exhibition), Krone Couronne, Biel/Bienne, CH (2022), 7winds, group exhibition, Kunsthalle Bern (2022), Undomesticated Voices, duo exhibition, IstitutoSvizzero, Milano, IT (2022), Plattform 21, group exhibition, MASI, Lugano, CH (2021), Summer of Suspense, group exhibition, Kunsthalle Zürich, CH (2022).
